Filmmaker M. Night Shyamalan was raised in Philadelphia, which inspired him to set most of his films in or around the city.

Real life places of interest Edit

30th Street Station - David Dunn in Unbreakable goes here to sense people who have committed crimes, and senses a janitor (The Orange Man) who works at the Station has committed a murder and is holding the victim's family hostage; Elliott and Alma Moore meet with Julian and Jess to leave Philadelphia in The Happening; Becca and Tyler in The Visit are dropped off here to go to their "grandparents'" via train; and in Split, "Dennis" and "Patricia", two of Kevin Crumb's split personalities, go here as part of a ritual, and a new personality, "The Beast", awakens in a desolate train car, before running on the track from the car with superhuman speed.

Franklin Field - David Dunn works as a security guard at this stadium in Unbreakable, and this is where he begins to develop his super sense ability on a man carrying a gun, a mother who abuses her young son (the son of whom could quite possibly be Kevin Crumb from Split), and a drug dealer (played by Shyamalan himself in a cameo).

Philadelphia Zoo - Shown on an iPhone video in The Happening, in which a zoo worker exposed to the plant toxin commits suicide by aggravating and letting himself be eaten by tigers in an exhibit; Kevin Wendell Crumb works and lives at the zoo in Split, where most of the film is set.

South Philadelphia - Cole Sear in The Sixth Sense lives here.

University of Pennsylvania - Owners of Franklin Field where David Dunn works in Unbreakable; Edward Walker in The Village was a history professor here until the late 1970's, and this is where he gained knowledge to create an 1800's-esque village in rural Pennsylvania along with his wife and members of his grief counseling group shortly after his father's murder.

West Philadelphia - Elijah Price was raised here in Unbreakable.
